Karimojong Bride Price, Reason for Cattle Rustling, High Rate of Girls' School Dropout

The high bride prices that parents of the girl fetches from the dowry is as high as 300 heads of cattle down to 100 depending on what the highest bidder raises.
The bride price, forces their male counterparts to go for forceful cattle raids from neighboring regions, reflecting historical conflicts and a warrior culture. Despite risks of being killed by the government troops or the neighboring tribes in protection of their cattle.
Karamoja region faces several unique socioeconomic and cultural challenges that negatively impact the lives of its people with the lowest illiteracy rate in Uganda, indicating a significant educational gap among its population.
The Karimojong tribe follows a nomadic pastoralist lifestyle, constant move in search of pastures and grazing land for their cattle. This lifestyle contributes to their distinct cultural practices and challenges.
There is a general resistance to education among the Karimojong, who prioritize the care of their cattle and goats over formal schooling.
The region experiences famine, indicating challenges in food security and agricultural practices.
The Karimojong mindset is described as medieval, suggesting a preservation of traditional practices that may be resistant to change.
